Hyderabad: Divi’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma contributed a total of ₹22.18 crore in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to support the government school breakfast scheme through the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation. The companies handed over the cheques in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Bodhi Pavilion in MCR HRD Institute.
Divi’s Laboratories contributed ₹12.18 crore, while Aurobindo Pharma donated ₹10 crore under their CSR initiatives. Representatives of the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, Divi’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma attended the programme.
Government school breakfast scheme receives CSR support
Further, the Chief Minister appreciated both companies for supporting the government school breakfast scheme. The Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation currently provides quality breakfast and midday meals to students in government schools under the programme.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy said the government was exploring measures to support farmers living near the Foundation’s centralised kitchens. He said the government planned to facilitate the direct procurement of vegetables, rice and other essential supplies from local farmers.
In addition, the Chief Minister said the government intended to encourage farmers to take up organic cultivation. He added that the State was taking steps to ensure the supply of quality seeds.
Moreover, he said the initiative would promote crop diversification. According to him, the measures would also improve farmers’ incomes.
Accordingly, Government Advisor K. Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation President Satya Gaura Chandra Das Prabhuji, Divi’s Laboratories Vice President Madhu Babu, Aurobindo Pharma Managing Director Nityananda Reddy and other representatives attended the programme.
