Hyderabad: DGP CV Anand directed police officers to strengthen Ganesh festival security across Telangana and ensure peaceful celebrations. He asked senior officers to make advance arrangements and remain alert throughout the festivities.
The celebrations will begin on the 14th of this month and conclude on the 25th with the immersion of Ganesh idols. Meanwhile, Anand held a video conference with SIs and senior officers from the DGP office on Monday.
He directed officers to regularly update online registrations, geotagging and inspection details on the TG-Cop app. Police must also take preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents during the festival period.
Anand said police had provided a special online portal to collect and monitor details of Ganesh mandals. Officers must record mandal locations, organisers, committee members and vehicles planned for idol immersion.
SHOs have received special logins to monitor mandals regularly. In addition, CPs, DCPs and SPs were directed to visit mandals and record relevant details.
Ganesh festival security to include CCTV and bomb squad checks
Police were advised to arrange volunteers at mandaps and install CCTV cameras wherever required. Anand also directed officers to deploy bomb and dog squads at locations where their services were necessary.
Geo-tagging information and inspection details must also be uploaded to the TG-Cop platform. Therefore, officers were asked to keep the digital records updated throughout the festival.
Technical Services DG VV Srinivasa Rao, Intelligence IG Karthikeya and Multizone-1 IG Chandrasekhar Reddy attended the meeting. Teespark SP Rupesh, AIG Ramana Kumar, Hyderabad DCP Avinash Kumar and DCP Vikrant Kumar Singh also participated.
The meeting focused on advance police preparations for the Ganesh festivities. The directions covered mandal monitoring, digital registration, security checks and idol immersion arrangements.
