DGP Anand urges integrity in police service at DSP passing-out parade

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand urged 112 newly trained Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) on Monday to uphold integrity in police service and discharge their duties without discrimination.

Addressing their passing-out parade at the Telangana Police Academy, Anand described wearing the police uniform as a privilege that carried considerable responsibility.

He said only about 90,000 people among Telangana’s four crore residents had the opportunity to wear the police uniform. Therefore, officers had to recognise the importance of their positions and remain committed to public service.

Anand stressed that police personnel must treat citizens equally, irrespective of caste, religion or political affiliation. He also urged the officers to uphold constitutional principles and maintain impartiality throughout their careers.

DGP emphasises integrity in police service during training

The DGP said the graduating batch was the first to complete full-scale DSP training since Telangana’s formation in 2014. All 112 officers had completed 44 weeks of training covering law, criminal investigation, outdoor activities and sports. They were scheduled to undergo another 46 weeks of field training before completing their training programme.

Anand reminded the officers of the oath they had taken during the passing-out parade. He advised them to follow its principles throughout their professional careers, which could span 30 to 35 years.

He further stressed that integrity in police service required officers to maintain ethical standards under all circumstances. They should never compromise their values while exercising their authority or carrying out official responsibilities.

The DGP also identified courage, vision, teamwork and effective communication as essential leadership qualities. In addition, he encouraged the officers to develop technical knowledge, innovative thinking and humility. He said these qualities were important for officers preparing to assume leadership responsibilities during their field assignments.

Emerging challenges demand integrity in police service

Referring to the Telangana Police’s record in tackling Naxalism, Anand highlighted the changing nature of security challenges confronting the department. He said cybercrime, organised crime and road safety had emerged as major areas requiring police attention.

The DGP also outlined measures to strengthen and reorganise specialised police units in response to evolving security requirements. These included Greyhounds, Eagle Force, the Cyber Security Bureau, TG-FAST and TG-SPARK.

He urged the newly trained DSPs to understand these developments and adapt to changing policing requirements. Anand further called on the officers to demonstrate discipline, dedication and leadership during their forthcoming field training.

He reiterated the importance of integrity in police service and advised the officers to maintain constitutional values throughout their careers.
