Hyderabad: Crime cases increased in the Rachakonda Commissionerate in 2025 compared to the previous year, Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu said while releasing the annual crime report on Sunday. The report highlighted the various challenges faced by the Rachakonda Commissionerate.
Addressing the media, the CP said the commissionerate registered 33,040 cases in 2025, up from 28,626 cases recorded last year. He said the data reflected an overall rise in conventional crimes and offenses against women. This growing trend in the Rachakonda Commissionerate is concerning for officials.
According to the report, police recorded three robbery cases, 67 thefts, 589 house burglaries, 876 vehicle thefts, and 1,161 general theft cases during the year. The commissionerate also registered 73 murder cases and three murder-for-gain cases. The detailed breakdown shows the scale of the problem within the Rachakonda Commissionerate.
Crimes against women saw an increase of four percent compared to last year. Police registered 330 rape cases, 12 dowry death cases, and 782 domestic violence cases in 2025.
The CP said kidnapping and POCSO cases also rose. Police registered 579 kidnapping cases and 1,224 POCSO cases during the year.
Drug seizures, arrests rise sharply in 2025
CP Sudheer Babu said police seized drugs worth ₹20 crore during the year. He said 256 drug-related cases were registered and 668 accused were arrested.
Police seized 2,090 kg of ganja, 35 kg of ganja chocolates, 34 kg of hash oil, 216 grams of MDMA, 10 kg of opium, 242 grams of heroin, and 35 kg of poppy straw, he said.
Under the Excise Act, police registered 656 cases and arrested 689 people. They also seized 6,824 liters of illicit liquor.
Police booked 227 cases under the Gaming Act, arrested 1,472 people, and seized property worth ₹69 lakh. Under human trafficking laws, police registered 73 cases and identified eight trafficking hotspots.
The CP said courts awarded jail sentences to 146 accused in 5,647 cases during the year. He said the conviction rate rose by 74 percent compared to the previous year. The Special Operations Team alone arrested 356 accused in 186 drug cases.
Cyber crime dips, road accidents increase
Police reported a decline in cyber crime cases during the year. The commissionerate registered 3,734 cyber crime cases in 2025, down from 4,618 cases last year. This was one of the few positive outcomes for the Rachakonda Commissionerate.
Under Operation Muskaan, police rescued 2,479 persons, while Operation Smile led to the rescue of 1,071 people, the CP said.
However, road accidents increased in 2025. Police registered 3,488 accident cases compared to 3,207 cases last year. As many as 659 people lost their lives in road accidents.
On the Outer Ring Road within the commissionerate limits, 37 people died in accidents during the year, the CP added.
