Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar strongly warned youth against performing dangerous stunts for social media fame after a video of a risky railway track act went viral.
The Commissioner expressed serious concern over the growing obsession among youth to gain instant fame through views and likes on social media platforms. He said youngsters were risking their lives by performing life-threatening acts without considering the consequences.
Reacting on social media platform X, Sajjanar said such behaviour reflected extreme recklessness. He stated that even a one-second delay could result in death, yet youth continued to engage in dangerous acts without fear.
Social media dangerous stunts spark police concern
In the viral video, a young man lay flat between railway tracks while a train sped over him. Despite the approaching train, the youth showed no signs of fear.
After the train passed over him, he stood up smiling as if nothing had happened. The video also showed his friends recording the act instead of stopping him.
Sajjanar said such individuals required immediate counselling. He warned that if an accident occurred, the suffering of the victim’s family would be unimaginable.
He also criticised those who encouraged such acts by filming and sharing them online. Sajjanar urged youth to act responsibly and avoid risking their lives for temporary social media attention.
