Court issues NBW against Minister Konda Surekha in KTR’s defamation case

Hyderabad: A local court in Nampally on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against state minister Konda Surekha for repeatedly failing to appear in the KTR defamation case filed by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.

The case originated from Surekha’s controversial remarks linking actor Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s divorce to her criticism of KTR and the BRS party. Her comments sparked outrage from both KTR and actor Nagarjuna, leading to separate defamation suits.

Court slams non-cooperation, issues warrant to ensure appearance

Although Surekha later expressed regret and retracted her statements, prompting Nagarjuna to withdraw his case, KTR’s defamation proceedings continued.

During Thursday’s hearing, the magistrate took serious note of the minister’s consistent non-appearance without filing any exemption or valid explanation. The court termed it “blatant non-cooperation” and ordered the NBW to secure her attendance.

The case has been adjourned to February 5, 2026, for the next hearing.
