Hyderabad: The Congress has warned voters in Jubilee Hills to stay alert against digital propaganda allegedly being spread by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) during the silent period leading up to the November 11 by-election.
Congress warns of misinformation in final hours
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin said that although the official campaign period ended at 5 p.m. on Sunday, digital platforms remained active and vulnerable.
“The BRS may misuse social media to share fake news, doctored videos, or AI-generated content to mislead voters,” he cautioned. He advised citizens to fact-check any political content they see and avoid sharing unverified material.
BRS accused of running disinformation campaign
Nizamuddin accused BRS of shifting its focus away from real issues and instead launching a targeted disinformation campaign. He alleged that party leaders used edited speeches and fake visuals to attack Congress during the Jubilee Hills campaign.
“Rather than discussing their own record, they chose to confuse voters with fabrications,” he said. According to him, these tactics intensified in the final phase of campaigning as BRS sensed defeat.
Congress responds with legal action
In response, Congress filed multiple complaints with the Election Commission and cybercrime units. Nizamuddin confirmed that FIRs had been registered against individuals spreading misleading content.
“Our legal and IT teams worked round-the-clock to track and report these violations,” he added. He emphasized that the party remains committed to protecting the democratic process from digital abuse.
Congress campaign focuses on public issues
Nizamuddin said that Congress, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership, ran a campaign focused on development, public welfare, and clean governance. Ministers, legislators, and senior leaders joined local teams in door-to-door visits, roadshows, and community meetings.
He noted strong support from youth, women, small business owners, and various marginalized communities across the constituency.
Appeal for peaceful and honest voting
Thanking voters for their positive response, Nizamuddin urged them to remain peaceful and alert on polling day. He also asked Congress workers to report any attempts to bribe, threaten, or mislead voters.
“Every honest vote strengthens democracy. The people’s choice must be free from manipulation,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the voters of Jubilee Hills would elect Congress candidate Naveen Yadav with a clear mandate.
