Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued urgent orders to state officials after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of heavy rains from Montha Cyclone. He asked all departments to stay alert and protect farmers from possible crop damage.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that paddy, cotton, and maize procurement continues without interruption. Moreover, he directed them to provide full support to farmers and take quick action if weather conditions worsen. He emphasised that farmers should not face any difficulties during the rains.
CM Revanth Reddy Montha Cyclone review meeting scheduled
Following his directions, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao will hold a video conference with district collectors and senior officials at 5 p.m. today. They will review cyclone preparedness, rainfall forecasts, and emergency response measures.
Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered the agriculture, civil supplies, and disaster management departments to work in close coordination. He said emergency teams must remain on standby to respond swiftly and prevent crop damage. Furthermore, he asked local administrations to provide real-time updates to the state control room.
IMD issues red and yellow alerts across Telangana
According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, Montha Cyclone moving from the Bay of Bengal could cause widespread rainfall in Telangana. As a result, several districts may experience heavy to very heavy showers on Monday.
The IMD issued a red alert for Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts. In addition, yellow alerts were declared for Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Khammam, Peddapalli, Warangal, and Hanamkonda.
Officials urged residents to stay indoors during intense rain and avoid low-lying areas. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister advised district collectors to remain vigilant and coordinate rescue operations wherever needed.
