Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alerted the administration as heavy rains followed a severe depression over the state. He held an emergency teleconference with collectors and senior officials from affected districts.
During the meeting, Chandrababu directed officials to focus on relief operations and preventive measures. He asked them to remain vigilant until weather conditions improved and rainfall subsided.
Officials must continuously monitor water levels and inflows in reservoirs and rivers. Chandrababu also instructed them to shift people from low-lying areas to relief centres before flooding occurs.
He stressed the need for advance planning to prevent loss of life and property. Accordingly, district administrations must closely track changing conditions and respond without delay.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu directed officials to ensure continuous supplies for flood-affected people. They must provide quality food, drinking water, emergency medical care and medicines.
Strong winds could also damage trees and electricity poles. Therefore, officials must begin restoration work immediately if such damage occurs.
The Chief Minister also asked authorities to prevent prolonged disruption to power supplies. Restoration teams must act quickly after weather-related damage to the electricity network.
Furthermore, Chandrababu directed collectors to assess crop damage accurately once the rains subside. Officials must prepare detailed estimates of losses caused to crops.
He also asked collectors to assure affected farmers that the government would support them. The assessment should begin after rainfall decreases and field conditions permit inspections.
Until weather conditions become favourable, Chandrababu told officials not to lower their guard. District administrations will continue monitoring reservoirs, rivers and vulnerable areas during the heavy rain spell.
