Hyderabad: The Centre has approved four new Kendriya Vidyalayas for Telangana to boost access to quality primary and secondary education in remote districts, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, he said the new schools would join the existing 35 Kendriya Vidyalayas operating in the state and play a key role in expanding education in underserved regions.
The approved locations include the district headquarters of Bhadradri Kothagudem (an aspirational district), Mulugu (a tribal area), Chelgal in Jagtial Rural mandal, and Nagavaram Shivaru in Wanaparthy district.
Kishan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for their continued support for educational development in Telangana.
He also noted that the Centre had sanctioned 832 PM-SHRI schools for Telangana over the past two years at a cost of ₹400 crore to strengthen quality secondary education. Telangana received one of the highest allocations under this national scheme.
In addition, he said the central government allocated nearly ₹2,000 crore under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and is setting up the Sammakka-Sarakka Central Tribal University in Mulugu district with ₹1,000 crore.
