Hyderabad: The Cara Cara pub fight at a Jubilee Hills hotel involved two groups after midnight on Saturday. Police later registered cases and began investigating the clash, which reportedly left several people injured.
The Cara Cara pub is located on the sixth floor of the Daspalla Hotel in Jubilee Hills. According to the report, the groups clashed while under the influence of alcohol.
Arvind Yadav, the younger brother of Secunderabad MP Anil Kumar Yadav, was reported to be a key figure in the incident. Police were initially reluctant to register a case against the groups, according to the report.
However, the police later registered a suo motu case based on a complaint from SI Sandeep Reddy. Another case was also registered against the pub management.
Police examined CCTV footage from the premises as part of the investigation. The footage reportedly showed 20 people involved in the fight, and police said they were taking action against them.
According to the report, Arvind Kumar Yadav and his followers allegedly started a confrontation with another group inside the pub. The argument later escalated into a physical clash between the two groups.
Bouncers intervened and moved the groups from inside the pub to the cellar. Meanwhile, more members from both groups reportedly gathered at the location, escalating the situation further.
Some cars were damaged during the incident, while several people sustained injuries. When Jubilee Hills police reached the spot after receiving information, both groups had already left.
Cara Cara pub fight draws criticism from RS Praveen Kumar
The incident also drew criticism from BRS state general secretary RS Praveen Kumar on Sunday. He criticised ruling party leaders over what he described as excessive displays of authority.
Praveen Kumar questioned why police had not immediately registered an FIR over the incident. He also questioned why the alleged accused had not been arrested and demanded answers from the police.
He asked whether police should not register a suo motu case if the pub management did not file a complaint. Meanwhile, he demanded that investigators collect CCTV footage and disclose the facts surrounding the clash.
Praveen Kumar also questioned why the pub’s licence had not been cancelled if it was operating in violation of rules. He further questioned whether action had been taken against local officials over the incident.
The report also raised questions about the police response time. It alleged that officers reached the location about an hour after the incident began, despite the pub being close to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s residence.
Police subsequently began investigating the Cara Cara pub fight and examining the CCTV footage. The case also included action against the pub management, according to the report.
