Hyderabad: Two teachers were killed, and two others were seriously injured after a car overturned in a Suryapet car accident on Highway-365 near Arvapalli on Saturday morning, police said.
The victims were among four teachers travelling together to duty after the Sankranti holidays. The car lost control on the highway, veered off the road and overturned, causing severe injuries to all occupants. Kalpana, 43, a special officer at Tungaturthi Kasturba School, died on the spot due to critical injuries.
The other occupants—Alugu Praveen Kumar, headmaster of Tungaturthi ZP School; Poreddy Geetha Reddy, headmistress of Ravulapalli ZP School; and Alugu Sunitha, gazetted HMR at Annaram ZP School—were shifted to the Suryapet Area Hospital for treatment.

Doctors later referred Geetha Reddy, 48, to Hyderabad after her condition worsened. However, she died while being shifted for advanced treatment. Praveen Kumar and Sunitha, who are siblings, were later admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where they remain under treatment.
The deceased and injured teachers were residents of Nalgonda district headquarters and were working in various schools in Suryapet district. The accident triggered grief across Annaram, Ravulapalli, Kasturba and Tungaturthi schools, where colleagues and students mourned the loss.
Suryapet Superintendent of Police Narasimha visited the accident spot and reviewed the circumstances leading to the crash. Police registered a case and said an investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
