Hyderabad: South Central Railway officials on Sunday announced the operation of 11 additional Sankranti special trains to manage the festive rush. The special services will run between January 6 and January 11, aiming to accommodate the surge in passenger travel during the holiday season.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that ticket bookings will open at 8 am on Monday. They said the railway planned these additional services to ensure smoother travel, particularly for passengers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Sankranti.
In addition to the festival arrangements, the Railway General Manager highlighted the zone’s overall performance in 2025. He said South Central Railway recorded steady growth across multiple sectors and successfully crossed key revenue milestones. According to him, the zone achieved this growth by introducing new passenger trains and expanding freight transport operations.
Alongside the Sankranti arrangements, the General Manager also pointed to significant progress in station development works and passenger amenities. He noted that the railway completed several infrastructure upgrades and service improvements during the year, which enhanced the overall travel experience for commuters.
Furthermore, officials said the operation of Sankranti special trains forms part of broader measures adopted by the zone. Through these steps, South Central Railway aims to respond effectively to seasonal demand while maintaining operational efficiency.
