BTech student dies by suicide in Jagtial after scoring low marks in first year exams

Hyderabad: A first-year BTech student from Jagtial district died by suicide on Thursday evening, allegedly after she was disturbed about her studies.

The girl, Sanjana Reddy, had also obtained poor marks in the first-year exams a few days back, which allegedly left her terribly disturbed. Since she was perceived to be disturbed mentally, her friends had informed her parents. Her parents took her to their home from the hostel a few days ago.

Despite support from her parents, Sanjana was found dead late in the evening at her residence in Jagtial town. It is believed she hanged herself using a ceiling fan.

The incident has raised again the rising academic pressure on young students, especially in competitive professional courses like engineering. A case has been registered by police and an investigation started.
