Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy on Tuesday ordered the BRS MLC suspension of Thatha Madhu and B. Naveen Kumar Reddy for the remainder of the ongoing session.
The action followed their alleged inappropriate remarks against Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. Minister D. Sridhar Babu moved a resolution in the Legislative Council seeking the suspension of the two BRS members. Subsequently, the Council adopted the resolution through a voice vote.
The Chairman then announced their suspension for the entire session. The Council was subsequently adjourned.
BRS MLC suspension follows Assembly resolution
Earlier, the Legislative Assembly had also adopted a resolution seeking action against the two MLCs. Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha moved the resolution in the Assembly.
The House strongly condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made by Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy against the Speaker. It said their alleged conduct had violated the dignity and decorum of the House. Moreover, the Assembly condemned their alleged indecent behaviour in the presence of women.
The Assembly also called upon BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao to take responsibility for the alleged inappropriate conduct of his party members. It demanded that he tender an unconditional apology to the Speaker. In addition, the House urged the Legislative Council Chairman to initiate action against the two MLCs under the applicable rules.
The Council later acted on the issue by adopting the suspension resolution. As a result, Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy were barred from the Council for the remainder of the ongoing session.
