Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly has scheduled hearings on disqualification petitions filed against 10 MLAs who were elected on a BRS ticket but later joined the Congress. The first round of hearings will begin on September 29 at 11 a.m.
First phase to cover four disqualification cases
The hearings will commence with the case against Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud. At noon, the Speaker will take up the case against Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah. Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy’s hearing will follow at 1 p.m., while Gadwal MLA B. Krishna Mohan Reddy’s case will be heard at 3 p.m.
Speaker G. Prasad Kumar will preside over the proceedings. During the hearings, legal representatives from both sides will present arguments as part of the cross-examination process.
Additional hearings scheduled for October 1
The Assembly Secretariat has also scheduled further hearings for October 1. On this day, petitioners and respondents’ counsels will present oral arguments directly before the Speaker. All proceedings will be held under the provisions of the Tenth Schedule.
BRS and defectors to face off legally
Legal teams from the BRS and the defected MLAs will argue their respective cases. Among the petitioners, C. Prabhakar has filed disqualification pleas against both Kale Yadaiah and G. Mahipal Reddy. P. Rajeshwar Reddy has filed a petition against B. Krishna Mohan Reddy.
The Speaker will supervise all stages of the process as per constitutional provisions.
