HYDERABAD: BRS leader and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar has accused the Congress-led Telangana government of political vendetta, alleging that police authorities are being misused to target opposition leaders. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, he claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is orchestrating false cases against BRS leaders, particularly former minister Harish Rao.
Allegations of Police Misuse
Praveen Kumar alleged that the government is deploying senior police officials to harass political opponents. He specifically accused DCP Vijay Kumar of allegedly torturing an individual named Vamshi, reportedly to coerce him into implicating Harish Rao in a legal case. Drawing from his experience as a former IPS officer, he condemned such practices and suggested that officers unwilling to resist unlawful orders should resign.
Questioning Case Credibility
Further, Praveen Kumar questioned the credibility of Chakradhar Goud, who filed a case against Harish Rao. He alleged that Goud himself faces serious charges, including sexual assault and fraud involving false job promises to 1,900 individuals.
Call for Judicial Intervention
Urging the judiciary to uphold justice, Praveen Kumar appealed to police officials to resist illegal directives from the administration. His remarks reflect rising tensions between BRS and the Congress government, raising concerns about the politicization of law enforcement and its impact on governance and public trust.
