Hyderabad: BJP launched a Chalo Assembly protest against the Telangana government, alleging failure to implement poll guarantees and neglect of key sectors.
State BJP president Ramchander Rao led the programme as party cadres and leaders gathered in large numbers from across the state. At the same time, police carried out preventive arrests of leaders in several districts to contain mobilisation.
Chalo Assembly protest targets government policies
BJP leaders accused the Congress government of failing to implement the six guarantees promised during elections. They said that even after two-and-a-half years, commitments remained unfulfilled.
They also criticised budget allocations, stating that education and healthcare received minimal funding. Moreover, they alleged that the government ignored these critical sectors.
Rao said the government failed to allocate adequate funds for Hyderabad’s development. He added that infrastructure development in the Greater Hyderabad region suffered due to neglect.
The party further alleged that the government imposed burdens on all sections while prioritising vote bank politics in decision-making.
Following the Chalo Assembly call, police tightened security around the Assembly परिसर. Heavy deployment was put in place to prevent escalation.
