Hyderabad, January 13: The festive atmosphere of Sankranti has taken over the Telugu states as people celebrated Bhogi with enthusiasm on Monday. Marking the day before Makar Sankranti, Bhogi festivities saw children and adults lighting bonfires in the early morning hours, symbolising the burning of old, unused items to welcome a fresh start.
The celebrations were not limited to common households. Political and cinema personalities also actively participated in the festivities. LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy hosted a grand Bhogi celebration at his residence, which saw the attendance of several prominent leaders.
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Finance Minister Harish Rao were among the key attendees. Other leaders, including MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy, Mutha Gopal, Bandari Laxma Reddy, former MLA Balka Suman, and Pattollu Karthik Reddy, also joined the event, adding to the festive cheer.
Bhogi marks the beginning of the three-day Sankranti festival, celebrated with joy and togetherness across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The festivities continue to showcase the rich cultural traditions of the Telugu people.
