HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka asserted that the Telangana government will not compromise on the implementation of welfare schemes, adding that several states are closely observing Telangana’s welfare model with great interest.

Speaking to the media in his Madhira constituency, Vikramarka criticised the previous BRS government for failing to fulfil its promise of distributing fine rice through ration cards during its decade in power. He pointed out that the Congress government had begun supplying fine rice to the poor without making any such promise during the elections.

He stated that the Congress government is firmly committed to fulfilling all assurances given to the people. Farmers are currently receiving a bonus of ₹500 per quintal on fine paddy, with ₹2,670 crore disbursed under the initiative. In addition, under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, farmers are being provided ₹12,000 per acre annually.

Vikramarka highlighted that agricultural loans amounting to over ₹21,000 crore have been waived in the state — a national record, as no other state has approved such a substantial loan waiver in a single phase.

He added that over 50,000 government jobs have been filled within the last 18 months, providing much-needed relief to unemployed youth. The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, with an outlay of ₹9,000 crore, has been launched to create employment opportunities. Through this scheme, more than 5,000 youth in each Assembly constituency will receive loans ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹4 lakh, with generous government subsidies.

The Deputy Chief Minister also noted that 90 lakh families in Telangana are receiving fine rice through the Public Distribution System. Telangana is currently the only state in the country offering fine rice on ration cards. The scheme is expected to cost the state government ₹13,523 crore annually. He urged the public to take full advantage of the programme.
