Bhatti Vikramarka slams previous regime over job neglect, highlights Congress welfare efforts

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu launched a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, accusing it of failing to generate employment opportunities during its decade-long tenure. Addressing a job fair in Telangana’s Wyra constituency, he said the former administration left lakhs of government posts vacant and did not conduct even a single Group-I examination over ten years.

Bhatti highlighted the despair among educated youth who, lacking employment prospects, became dependent on their parents or wandered aimlessly out of frustration. He stressed the Congress government’s commitment to ensuring that every educated person contributes meaningfully to society.

Outlining the Congress-led administration’s initiatives, the Deputy CM said the Telangana Public Service Commission has been overhauled, leading to employment opportunities for 56,000 individuals, with recruitment processes underway for another 30,000 posts. He added that the state has facilitated job creation by bringing two multinational companies to Telangana and is supporting self-employment through the ₹9,000 crore Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme.

Education and tribal welfare also featured prominently in his speech. Bhatti announced the launch of Young India Integrated Residential Schools to offer global-standard education to underprivileged students. He also spoke about the ₹12,600 crore Indira Solar-Giri Jal Vikasam scheme, aimed at making 6.7 lakh acres of tribal forest land cultivable—a move grounded in the Forest Rights Act introduced under the UPA government.

Taking aim at the BRS for its treatment of tribal communities, he accused the previous regime of harassment and obstruction. In contrast, the Congress government, he said, is working to improve tribal incomes and agricultural infrastructure, including efficient water usage and irrigation.

On farmer welfare, Bhatti noted that ₹22,000 crore in farm loans have been waived and ₹18,000 crore allocated under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The government is also paying farmers’ insurance premiums and offering an additional ₹500 per quintal bonus for coarse grains alongside MSP. Drip and sprinkler irrigation systems are being subsidised to boost sustainable farming.

Women’s empowerment, Bhatti said, is being prioritised through interest-free loans. This year alone, ₹21,000 crore has been disbursed, and the government aims to provide ₹1 lakh crore over five years to one crore women.

He criticised the BRS for ignoring women’s self-help groups and failing to provide interest-free loans over the past decade. He also pointed out the revival of the Aarogyasri health scheme with a raised cap of ₹10 lakh, free bus travel for women, subsidised LPG at ₹500, and up to 200 units of free electricity for households under the Gruha Jyothi scheme.

Regarding infrastructure and power, Bhatti said Telangana is becoming a surplus electricity state, offering uninterrupted, high-quality supply. The government has signed MoUs with Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and other states to import solar, thermal, and hydropower, aligning with future demand forecasts.

The Deputy CM concluded by urging voters to remain vigilant against misinformation spread by opposition parties and underscored the Congress government’s focus on inclusive growth, transparency, and delivering on its promises.
