Bhatti Vikramarka pays tribute on Ambedkar Jayanti, highlights constitutional values

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka marked Ambedkar Jayanti by paying tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar and highlighting his role in shaping India’s democracy and constitutional values.

He, along with MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, offered floral tributes at the Ambedkar statue located at HMDA Grounds. Later, leaders released a special brochure aimed at spreading Ambedkar’s ideals among the public.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari, along with MLAs and other leaders, participated in the programme.

Ambedkar Jayanti speech highlights democracy, rights and social justice

Addressing the gathering, Bhatti Vikramarka described Ambedkar as an extraordinary intellectual who laid the foundation of democracy through the Constitution. He said Ambedkar ensured equal rights for every citizen and established India as the world’s largest democracy.

He noted that Ambedkar played a key role in advancing women’s rights and addressing gender discrimination. Moreover, he recalled that Ambedkar worked on the Hindu Code Bill and stood firm on its passage.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Ambedkar contributed significantly to labour welfare, including reduction of working hours and introduction of key protections. In addition, he said the Constitution empowered citizens through voting rights and freedom to question authority.

He alleged that there are attempts to weaken the Constitution and undermine democratic values. Therefore, he called upon people to unite to protect constitutional rights.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government is functioning on the principles laid down by Ambedkar. He added that policies and decisions reflect his vision of social and economic justice.

He said the government is committed to conducting a caste census to ensure equitable distribution of resources. At the same time, he noted that Telangana has taken steps to carry out the exercise in a constitutional manner.

He urged people to support efforts aimed at protecting the Constitution and safeguarding human rights.
