Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to Singareni workers’ welfare. He announced new initiatives focused on housing, health, insurance, and employment support.
He promised swift resolution to the issue of employee name changes. Regarding health concerns, he said medical boards will review all cases of worker ailments and take necessary action.
Housing, insurance, and hospitals among major upgrades
Bhatti said the government will set up a committee to extend officer-level benefits to workers. These include tax-related perks, in line with Coal India norms.
To address long-pending housing demands, the government will implement IFORE Committee recommendations.
In a significant move, Bhatti said the government introduced a ₹1.25 crore accident insurance scheme for Singareni workers. This is the highest such cover in India and has gained national recognition.
He added that 30,000 contract workers now receive free accident insurance with ₹40 lakh coverage.
The Deputy CM said the Praja government had filled 2,539 Singareni posts. Of these, 798 were regular recruitments and 1,741 were compassionate appointments.
Bhatti also confirmed plans to upgrade company hospitals into super-specialty centres. These upgrades include the installation of cath labs.
He noted that in 2024–25, Singareni Coal Company earned ₹6,394 crore in profits — the highest in its history. Of that, ₹802 crore (34%) was shared with workers. Each outsourced staffer received ₹5,500 as profit share.
