Hyderabad: State Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy unveiled the poster for the Bathukamma filmmakers challenge 2026 and urged young creators to use the initiative to showcase their talent.
The Bathukamma Young Filmmakers Challenge–2026 aimed to promote the festival and Telangana’s cultural traditions globally. It also sought to identify and encourage creative talent among young people.
Venkat Reddy unveiled the poster along with MLC Shankar Naik and FDC Managing Director G. Mukunda Reddy. State Government Creative Director Raj Konda and former SETWIN chairman Giridhar Reddy also participated.
The Minister called on young filmmakers, students and aspiring artists to participate in large numbers and make the initiative successful.
Bathukamma filmmakers challenge offers creative platform
Venkat Reddy said the competition would provide young people with a platform to demonstrate their creative abilities. Participants could showcase their talent through short films, songs and videos, he said.
The Minister said the Bathukamma filmmakers challenge would also help take the significance of Bathukamma to a wider audience. Bathukamma represents Telangana’s culture and traditions. Therefore, the initiative sought to use creative content to promote the festival and its cultural importance.
Venkat Reddy said participants could highlight Telangana’s culture, folk arts and traditional practices through their work. He also said the challenge could help communicate the State government’s development and welfare programmes to the public in creative formats.
According to the Minister, young creators could use visual storytelling to combine cultural themes with their creative skills. He urged aspiring filmmakers to make full use of the opportunity.
Bathukamma filmmakers challenge seeks youth participation
Venkat Reddy said the initiative was designed to encourage creativity among young filmmakers and students. He also invited aspiring artists to participate and demonstrate their skills through different forms of visual and musical content.
The challenge would provide participants with an opportunity to present Bathukamma’s distinctive cultural identity, he said. Moreover, creators could focus on Telangana’s folk traditions and cultural practices while developing their entries.
The Minister said greater youth participation would help make the Bathukamma filmmakers challenge successful. He called on young filmmakers, students and other aspiring creators to take advantage of the platform and participate in large numbers.
