Hyderabad: Minister for Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohammed Azharuddin directed officials and chairpersons of minority welfare bodies to improve minority welfare coordination.
He asked them to work closely and ensure effective implementation of government welfare initiatives. At the same time, he wanted officials to properly highlight the programmes and their achievements.
Azharuddin asked officials to identify pending matters and resolve them one by one. Consequently, he said departments and organisations under his portfolio could function smoothly.
The Minister held a review meeting at his chamber in the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday.
Chairpersons of various Minorities Welfare Department wings and senior officials attended the meeting.
Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Principal Secretary (Minorities Welfare) Ahmed Nadeem and Secretary B. Shafiullah participated.
In addition, TGMREIS president Faheem Qureshi, Haj Committee Chairman Ghulam Afzal Biyabani and Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan attended.
Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Ubaidullah Kotwal and Christian Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Deepak John were also present.
Minority welfare coordination linked to faster decisions
Azharuddin said he had promptly cleared files placed before him. Therefore, he urged officials to speed up their work and uphold the spirit of welfare.
He stressed that better minority welfare coordination among chairpersons and officials remained essential.
Furthermore, the Minister asked officials to prevent delays and lapses in welfare programme implementation.
He said such shortcomings should not give the Opposition an opportunity to criticise the government.
Faheem Qureshi said the Congress government was working sincerely for minority welfare.
Accordingly, he said the government’s efforts should leave no scope for Opposition criticism.
Qureshi also asked Waqf Board officials to keep all relevant data ready. This information would help highlight government welfare initiatives and achievements.
Officials raise pending issues with Minister
Mohammed Ali Shabbir suggested placing contentious matters on the agenda of the Collectors’ Conference.
In particular, he referred to issues involving graveyards. Shabbir said the conference could help resolve such matters in a timely manner.
Secretary B. Shafiullah briefed the Minister on several long-pending issues.
He sought Azharuddin’s intervention to resolve the matters. As a result, various wings of the Minorities Welfare Department could function more smoothly.
Azharuddin assured officials that he would address administrative hurdles affecting departments and organisations under his portfolio.
He also said such hurdles should not obstruct their effective functioning.
Meanwhile, the review meeting focused on pending issues, administrative coordination and implementation of minority welfare programmes.
