HYDERABAD: A woman attempted suicide by jumping into Hussain Sagar Lake in the heart of Hyderabad on Tuesday but was rescued in time by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) team.
According to reports, the woman leapt into the lake in a bid to take her own life. Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police. Responding swiftly, the Hydra DRF team reached the scene and successfully pulled the woman out of the water using ropes.
She was later identified as a 36-year-old Merry, wife of Srinivas, a resident of Rajeev Gandhi Colony in Kukatpally. Preliminary inquiries revealed that she attempted suicide due to domestic disputes.
Authorities provided her with counselling before handing her over to her family. The timely intervention of the HYDRAA team has drawn widespread praise for their quick and effective response in saving the woman’s life.
