Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday released the Varadhi book on freedom fighter P.N. Murthy, marking his 100th birth anniversary. The Chief Minister released the book at the Telangana Assembly Committee Hall. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin attended the programme.
Purna Bodha Srikanth, the son of P.N. Murthy, authored the book. Writer Sripada Srinivas of Rajahmundry handled its editorial work. The Varadhi book on Murthy documented several episodes from the freedom struggle in the Telangana region. Moreover, it covered the armed struggle and the revolt against the Razakars.
The publication also dealt with the nature of administration during the post-Independence period. The book chronicled Murthy’s life and contributions as a freedom fighter. Its release coincided with his centenary birth anniversary.
Murthy also had a long association with the Congress party. He rendered 44 years of service to the party across different periods and States. His Congress service began during 1952-53 in the erstwhile Hyderabad State. Subsequently, he worked for the party from 1953 to 1956 in the erstwhile Andhra State.
Following the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956, Murthy continued his association with the Congress. His service to the party in Andhra Pradesh continued until 1996. The Varadhi book on Murthy brought together these aspects of his life along with accounts of major historical developments.

Srikanth had served as Secretary of the Congress Legislature Party office in the Assembly for the past three decades. His association with the CLP office began during the tenure of P. Janardhan Reddy. Since then, he had continued working with the office through successive periods.
Moreover, Srikanth played a key role in the functioning of the CLP office through the tenure of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He currently served as an Officer on Special Duty in the Telangana Assembly.
