Uttam Kumar Reddy confident of Congress victory in Jubilee Hills by-election

Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed firm confidence that the Congress party would win the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election with a clear majority. He stated that every survey, both internal and public, indicated a strong Congress lead in the constituency.

Uttam Kumar Reddy Jubilee Hills campaign highlights growing voter trust

During a door-to-door campaign in Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda division, Uttam Kumar Reddy joined Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and senior Congress leaders. He said the victory of Congress candidate Naveen Yadav was certain. “Survey findings and people’s enthusiasm both prove that our win is guaranteed,” he remarked.

He, however, criticised the previous BRS government for ignoring poor families in Jubilee Hills. “For ten years, BRS failed to issue even a single white ration card to the people with low-income. That shows their complete neglect of the underprivileged,” he said.

Congress showcases welfare performance and reforms

The Minister, therefore, drew a comparison between the Congress government and its predecessor. He explained that within 20 months, the number of white ration cards rose from 89 lakh to 1.15 crore across Telangana. Moreover, Jubilee Hills alone received 40,000 new cards, benefiting thousands of poor families directly.

He also noted that Telangana became the first state in India to distribute fine rice on a large scale. “Nearly 3.15 crore people now receive fine rice through the public distribution system,” he said. “Eighty-five percent of SC, ST, BC, and minority households benefit from this initiative. Consequently, the people’s faith in our government continues to grow,” he added.

Congress welfare schemes drive public goodwill

He, meanwhile, cited major schemes such as Mahalakshmi, which offers free bus travel to women, and Gruha Jyothi, which provides 200 units of free electricity each month. “These measures have provided real relief to families struggling with rising costs,” he said.

In addition, he accused the BRS and BJP of running false propaganda. “The same parties that neglected the people with low-income for a decade now attack a government that is actually serving them. Their hypocrisy, therefore, stands exposed,” he said.

Congress leadership inspires confidence statewide

The Minister stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had earned widespread public trust. “That trust will certainly convert into votes in Jubilee Hills,” he asserted confidently.

Meanwhile, Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the BJP and BRS had formed a covert alliance to counter Congress. He urged voters to see through the ploy and support a party committed to people’s welfare.

He also questioned Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s record as MP. “As a two-time MP and now a Union Minister, what has he done for Jubilee Hills? How much central funding has he secured for the people?” he asked.

Senior Congress leaders strengthen campaign momentum

The campaign, moreover, saw the participation of several senior Congress figures, including Shadnagar MLA K. Shankaraiah, TPCC Working President Mohammad Azharuddin, Sports Authority Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, ST Corporation Chairman Bellaiah Naik, AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar, Mahila Congress President K. Sunitha Rao, and TPCC General Secretary Bollu Kishan.

Their active involvement, consequently, added momentum to the campaign. Party leaders said the strong turnout across localities clearly reflected the growing trust in the Congress government.
