Union Budget leaves Telangana disappointed, says Bhatti Vikramarka

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the Union Budget had left Telangana disappointed, alleging that the Centre ignored the state across key sectors.

Speaking at a media conference at Praja Bhavan on Sunday, he said Telangana expected fair treatment from the Centre. Instead, he alleged, the state faced neglect. He asked what mistake Telangana had committed to deserve such treatment.

He said the chief minister, ministers, and MPs met the Prime Minister and Union ministers before the budget. However, those meetings failed to secure any allocations. Expected funds for the Musi rejuvenation project did not materialise. The Regional Ring Road and Metro projects also received nothing.

Union Budget disappoints Telangana across sectors, says Bhatti Vikramarka

Referring to industry announcements, Bhatti Vikramarka said the Centre spoke about biopharma and chemical parks. Yet, it made no announcement linked to Hyderabad.

On sports, he said the state actively promoted athletes. However, the Union Budget ignored Telangana in proposals on affordable sports goods and a sports university.

Turning to tourism, he said the Centre showed similar neglect. Despite Ramappa Temple having UNESCO recognition, the budget made no special allocation.

He also cited the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, which he said had international recognition. Even then, the Centre failed to extend support.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the Union Budget made no mention of welfare. He added that the Centre announced only three trains. According to him, it failed to provide the infrastructure needed for economic growth.

Highlighting the state’s roadmap, he said Telangana was moving ahead with its Telangana Rising 2047 vision. Therefore, he argued, the Centre should have encouraged the state. He added that Telangana was ready to work with the Centre. Yet, the Union Budget reflected continued indifference.
