TPCC seeks extension of SIR enumeration period to 60 days

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) urged the Election Commission to extend the SIR enumeration period from 30 days to 60 days, citing delays in distributing enumeration forms to voters across the state.

A TPCC delegation led by Election Commission Coordination Committee Chairman Pulipati Rajesh Kumar met Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy. Committee members Gopishetty Raghavender and Dr. Baikini Lingam Yadav also attended the meeting.

SIR enumeration period extension sought

The delegation said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were expected to distribute enumeration forms to all voters listed in the 2025 electoral roll through door-to-door visits. However, they alleged that the process had slowed in several areas.

According to the delegation, many BLOs serving as ASHA workers were engaged in the Pulse Polio programme. As a result, they faced difficulties in distributing the forms for three days.

The TPCC leaders also said Congress booth-level agent lists had not yet reached BLOs in several Assembly constituencies. Therefore, they requested the authorities to ensure the lists reached the officers immediately.

SIR enumeration period issue raised with CEO

Pulipati Rajesh Kumar said Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy assured the delegation that he would bring the request for extending the SIR enumeration period to the notice of the Election Commission of India.

He also said the Chief Electoral Officer promised to issue directions to District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers through a video conference. The instructions would address delays in booth-level work and other issues raised during the meeting.
