TGSRTC special buses for Dussehra to charge up to 50% higher fares

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will charge up to 50 per cent more on special buses for Dussehra, as it prepares to run up to 7,000 special services for passengers travelling to their hometowns for the festival. The higher fares were announced in advance for all special buses. The management revised the ticket prices in line with the state government’s GO.

The revised fares will apply only to special buses plying to Telangana and other states. They will be in force on the 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th of this month, and on the 25th and 26th, when return journey traffic is expected to be heavy. Regular buses will continue to charge regular fares.

A total of 3,533 special buses will run from Karimnagar zone alone. Region-wise, 431 buses will operate from Adilabad, 719 from Nizamabad, 1,175 from Karimnagar, 530 from Warangal and 678 from Khammam.

In addition, 2,155 buses have been decided upon for Hyderabad zone, 645 for Mahabubnagar, 255 for Medak, 815 for Nalgonda, 440 for Ranga Reddy and 1,312 for Greater Hyderabad zone. All of these will run as special services.

Passenger traffic is likely to be high mainly on the 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th of this month. Arrangements have been made to make special buses available according to the traffic on those days. Appropriate arrangements will also be made for the return journey on the 25th and 26th.

Free travel for women to continue

TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy has clarified that free bus travel for women will continue as usual under the state government’s Mahalaxmi scheme. The facility covers Pallevelugu, Express, City Ordinary and Metro Express regular buses, as well as the special buses running for Dussehra.
