Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue, Housing and I&PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday said a single photograph can carry the power of a thousand words, preserving memories for generations. He was speaking as chief guest at World Photography Day celebrations organised by the Information and Public Relations Department at Hotel Green Park, Hyderabad.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary A. Ramakrishna Rao, I&PR Commissioner Ch. Priyanka, Telangana Press Academy Chairman K. Srinivasa Reddy and Chief Public Relations Officer to the Chief Minister Mansoor.

Telangana marks World Photography Day with exhibition and awards
The minister inaugurated a photo exhibition showcasing works under various social and welfare themes. He praised the visual impact of the images and underlined the role of photography not only in capturing memories but also in history and justice. He cited the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, where a single photograph proved crucial as evidence.
As part of the celebrations, winners of the I&PR Department’s photography competitions were felicitated. Awards were presented in categories including Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Housing, Cheyutha, Rajiv Yuva Vikasam and a general section. Ponguleti congratulated the awardees and reiterated the government’s support for encouraging talented photographers across Telangana.
He also extended greetings to photographers in the state and across the country on the occasion of World Photography Day.
