Telangana Waqf Board regains Record Room keys after nine years

Hyderabad: The Telangana Waqf Board regained possession of the Record Room keys after nearly nine years, Chairman Azmathullah Hussaini announced on Thursday.

He made the announcement during a meeting with representatives of Muslim organisations led by Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik. The delegation discussed Waqf properties and their administration in Telangana. Hussaini said the Revenue authorities had controlled the Record Room for almost nine years.

Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik welcomed the decision and described it as a major step towards transparency and accountability in Waqf administration. He said Tahreek Muslim Shabban and several Muslim organisations had consistently demanded the restoration of the Record Room to the Board.

Furthermore, Mallik urged the Board to publish its annual income, expenditure and welfare spending. He also asked the Board to use Waqf funds only for the welfare of poor and deserving people.

The delegation requested the Board to develop Dargah Hazrat Yousufain by building adequate toilets and a proper Wazu Khana. It also sought the removal or relocation of the garbage dumping yard near Dargah Jahangir Peeran to improve facilities for devotees.

In addition, the representatives urged the Board to strengthen protection of the Rai Durg Nizamia Waqf land and prevent encroachments.

The delegation included Syed Tareq Qadri, former Minority Commission member; Raheem Ullah Khan Niyazi, former Chairman of the Urdu Academy; Mujeebullah Shareef of the Congress; Prof. Anwar Khan; Mustafa Mahmood, General Secretary of MBT; and other representatives of Muslim organisations.

Finally, the delegation expressed hope that the Telangana Waqf Board would address the issues promptly and ensure transparent, efficient and people-oriented management of Waqf institutions and properties.
