At BioAsia 2025, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized Hyderabad’s rise as a life sciences hub and outlined Telangana’s plans for economic growth, infrastructure, and investment.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed Hyderabad’s position as a global capital for life sciences, highlighting the city’s role in healthcare innovation and global investments. Speaking at the BioAsia 2025 inaugural event, he outlined the government’s vision for economic expansion, infrastructure development, and industrial growth.
The Chief Minister noted that Hyderabad hosts leading pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, and biotech companies, solidifying its reputation as a premier investment destination. He emphasized Telangana’s consistent investments in higher education, research, and technical expertise, particularly through the development of Genome Valley as a biotech hub.
Telangana’s Trillion-Dollar Economic Vision
Setting an ambitious target, Revanth Reddy announced plans to transform Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy within the next decade. The government is focusing on expanding Hyderabad’s urban services sector while launching large-scale projects like Future City and AI City. The state’s leadership in the electric vehicle (EV) sector was also highlighted, with Hyderabad emerging as India’s top city in EV sales and plans underway to introduce 3,000 electric buses into the RTC fleet.
The CM detailed key infrastructure expansion plans, including the development of a manufacturing hub between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR). Telangana is positioning itself as a key alternative in global supply chains, leveraging the “China Plus One” policy to attract international investments. The state is also integrating radial roads with ORR and RRR, facilitating industrial clusters along these routes.
A mega dry port is in the pipeline to enhance Telangana’s connectivity with Andhra Pradesh’s seaports, boosting logistics and transport efficiency. Revanth Reddy reiterated the government’s commitment to making Hyderabad a global leader in biosciences, biotech, and life sciences, with increased research and skill development initiatives.
Telangana’s Investment Success
The CM highlighted Telangana’s record-breaking foreign investments, with the state securing Rs 1.8 lakh crore in deals at the World Economic Forum in Davos, expected to generate 50,000 jobs. The life sciences sector alone attracted over Rs 40,000 crore in investments across 150 projects last year.
Several key industrial initiatives are progressing, including the development of pharma villages between ORR and RRR, projected to create over five lakh jobs. The Green Pharma City project under Future City has gained momentum, with major pharmaceutical companies signing agreements. Additionally, German firm Miltenyi Biotech has launched cell and gene therapy operations in Genome Valley, further strengthening Hyderabad’s biotech ecosystem.
BioAsia 2025 and Global Recognition
Welcoming global delegates at BioAsia 2025, Revanth Reddy invited investors to explore Telangana’s business-friendly environment. He assured international corporations of policy stability, infrastructure support, and seamless investment opportunities.
He congratulated Professor Patrick Tan, the recipient of the Genome Valley Excellence Award, and reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to innovation-driven growth.
