Telangana school holiday rain: Districts shut schools as Montha lashes state

Hyderabad: Authorities have declared a holiday for schools in several Telangana districts after Cyclone Montha triggered intense rainfall across the state since midnight.

The districts of Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, and Siddipet have announced school closures for Thursday due to heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, heavy downpours continue in other districts including Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, and Hyderabad. Parents and students in these regions have urged officials to issue similar holiday declarations.

The India Meteorological Department has warned of extremely heavy rains in many parts of the state over the next 24 hours, raising concerns about waterlogging, transportation disruption, and public safety.
