Telangana launches plan for one lakh LIG houses in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched plans for construction of one lakh LIG houses Hyderabad under its affordable housing initiative.

The programme aims to support poor and middle-class families in the city.

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government had started the first phase of the project in Hyderabad.

On Wednesday, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Minister Azharuddin and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi inspected several locations in Nampally, Malakpet and Bahadurpura constituencies.

The leaders also visited Kulsumapura, Afzal Sagar, Kaladera and Gaddiannaram areas. Thereafter, they inspected vacant lands and dilapidated government buildings.

LIG houses Hyderabad project focuses on government lands

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government planned to use unused public lands and abandoned buildings for housing development.

According to the minister, the initiative would improve housing access for economically weaker sections.

He further stated that the government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remained committed to improving urban living standards.

Moreover, the minister said the LIG houses Hyderabad programme would reduce housing problems in the city. He added that the project would provide dignified housing for poor and middle-class families.

LIG houses Hyderabad project enters planning stage

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said officials had already started identifying lands for the first phase of one lakh houses.

In addition, authorities were preparing layouts, infrastructure plans and basic civic facilities for the project.

The minister also stated that the government was accelerating the implementation process. Therefore, officials aimed to begin construction works at the earliest.
