Owaisi asks Telangana govt to arrange elephant for processions

Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi asked the Telangana government to arrange a trained elephant permanently for religious processions in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Owaisi seeks trained elephant to ensure smooth processions.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Owaisi said several religious processions took place every year in the twin cities. Therefore, he stressed the need for a trained elephant to support these events.

He said organizers regularly used trained elephants during major religious processions. These included Muharram, Bonalu, and Gyarvi Shareef, and Owaisi seeks trained elephant to continue tradition.

Owaisi pointed out that Telangana earlier had a trained elephant for such occasions. However, after the animal’s death, the state no longer had one available, which is why Owaisi seeks trained elephant.

Trained elephant for processions sought to avoid hurdles

Owaisi said authorities now arranged trained elephants from other states during major events. As a result, organizers faced repeated hurdles and inconvenience.

He urged the state government to examine the issue seriously. Moreover, he asked it to initiate steps to ensure a permanent solution.

The AIMIM chief said a locally available trained elephant would help ensure smooth conduct of religious processions. He added that this would also ease coordination for officials and organizers.
