Hyderabad: The Telangana government has urged farmers to register with the Farmer Registry to receive a unique Farmer ID. The system aims to simplify access to government schemes, subsidies and concessions.
Special registration drives will take place in villages from September 22 to 30. During this period, officials will visit villages and register farmers on the spot.
Farmers can also complete the registration through the Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) in their mandal. Alternatively, they can visit a MeeSeva centre to complete the process.
Farmers who have already registered do not need to apply again. After registration, they should keep their Farmer ID number safely, as various schemes and services will require it.
Farmer Registry provides access to key farm services
The Farmer Registry requires an Aadhaar card, Pattadar passbook and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Farmers should keep these documents ready when applying.
The Farmer ID will help farmers access welfare schemes, services, subsidies and concessions offered by the Central and Telangana governments. It can also support farmers seeking crop loans through banks.
Furthermore, the ID will be required for the Framework for Fertilizer app used for fertiliser booking. It will also support the process of obtaining minimum support prices for crops such as paddy, cotton, maize and red gram.
Farmers who have already completed registration can check their Farmer ID online. First, they need to open the official Farmer Registry website and select the Aadhaar number option.
Next, farmers must enter their Aadhaar number. An OTP will then reach the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar.
After entering the OTP and submitting the details, the Farmer ID number will appear on the screen. Farmers should therefore complete the registration process by September 30 if they have not already registered.
The government has urged eligible farmers to use the village registration drives or the available registration centres before the deadline.
