Census 2027 self-enumeration phase begins in Telangana
The Census 2027 self-enumeration phase started on April 26, 2026. It will continue until May 10, 2026. After that, officials will conduct house-listing operations from May 11 to June 9, 2026.
Addressing the public, the Governor said the Census remains a vital national exercise. It provides a clear picture of population and socio-economic conditions. Therefore, it supports effective governance and planning.
He added that accurate Census data helps policymakers across sectors. For instance, it supports decisions in education, healthcare, employment, housing and infrastructure. Moreover, it enables targeted welfare programmes and helps assess national progress.
The Governor noted that this is the first Census after Telangana’s formation. As a result, the Census 2027 self-enumeration phase carries special importance for the State’s development.

Officials confirmed that the Census 2027 self-enumeration phase will be fully digital. The system allows households to register details through a simple interface. In addition, officials will carry out house-listing digitally to ensure accuracy and transparency.
“I have personally completed the self-enumeration process today. It is simple and efficient. I urge all citizens of Telangana to actively participate in this important exercise and extend full cooperation to Census officials by providing accurate and clear information,” the Governor said.
He further stressed that public participation will strengthen inclusive planning. Ultimately, it will help build a well-planned Telangana and India.
