Hyderabad: Police registered five cases following the tense incidents during Monday’s Telangana Assembly session, including cases against two MLCs and several BRS representatives.
Police booked MLCs Tatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The action followed allegations that the two made objectionable remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Police arrested both MLCs on Tuesday morning. They then took them to the Narayanguda police station.
The police booked the two under BNS Sections 352 and 3(5). They also invoked Sections 3(1)(r), 3(2)(va) and 3(2)(vii) of the SC/ST POA Act.
Telangana Assembly police cases target 15 BRS representatives
Meanwhile, police registered another case against several BRS public representatives. The case followed allegations that they attacked and abused police officials.
Detective Inspector M Balaswamy filed the complaint. Based on it, Saifabad police booked 15 people.
The accused included KTR, Harish Rao, Sudheer Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Padi Kaushik Reddy and Jagadish Reddy. The case also named Shambipur Raju, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Kova Lakshmi and Sabita Indra Reddy.
Police also named Sanjay, Vijayudu, Tatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy in the case. The complaint alleged that the accused attacked and abused police personnel during the Assembly-related incident.
In addition, police registered cases against two activists over separate incidents during the session.
Police booked AAP activist Hemachandra over allegations that he created a disturbance after pouring petrol on himself. Similarly, police booked BJP activist Ganesh for allegedly damaging government property.
The five cases followed incidents reported during Monday’s Assembly proceedings. Police took further action on Tuesday morning against those named in the cases.
