Hyderabad: The Nampally Court on Tuesday granted BRS MLCs bail to Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy in a case involving alleged remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and alleged assault of police personnel.
The court granted bail after hearing arguments from the two sides. It directed both MLCs to furnish personal bonds of Rs 20,000 each. Moreover, the court ordered Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy to appear in person at the next hearing on September 17.
The Hyderabad City Police had submitted a remand report to the court along with evidence in the case. The court accepted the remand report and considered the material placed before it.
BRS MLCs bail granted on personal bonds
The two legislators sought BRS MLCs bail by citing their responsibilities as elected representatives. They also referred to the ongoing Telangana Legislative Council session while seeking relief from the court.
After considering the arguments, the court allowed their bail pleas on personal bonds of Rs 20,000 each. However, the proceedings in the case remained pending. The court adjourned the matter until September 17 and required both legislators to attend the hearing personally.
The case arose from a controversy over alleged inappropriate remarks against Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. It also involved allegations of assault on police personnel during a subsequent confrontation.
