Hyderabad: Former India wicketkeeper and 1983 World Cup winner Syed Kirmani met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday at the CM’s residence in Jubilee Hills. Minister Vivek Venkatswamy was also present at the meeting.
Kirmani praised the Telangana government’s sports initiatives and stressed the importance of identifying and nurturing hidden talent among the youth. In response, Revanth Reddy commended Kirmani’s contributions to Indian cricket and said his guidance would be invaluable for young athletes in the state.
During the meeting, Kirmani presented his autobiography “Stumped” to the Chief Minister as a token of appreciation. Born on December 29, 1949, in Chennai to a family of Hyderabad origin, Kirmani was a key member of the Indian cricket team between 1976 and 1986. Known for his skill behind the stumps and dependable batting, he earned a Padma Shri in 1982 for his contributions to the sport.
