Supriya Sule backs Telangana’s BC reservation demand at Jantar Mantar

Hyderabad: NCP (SP) working president and Baramati MP Supriya Sule extended her full support to Telangana’s demand for 42% Backward Class (BC) reservations, addressing a Congress-led protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Wednesday.

Standing alongside Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and DMK MP Kanimozhi, Supriya Sule said the INDIA bloc was united in backing the reservation bill passed by the Telangana Assembly. “This country doesn’t run on anyone’s whims. It runs on the Constitution,” she said, accusing the Centre of blocking BC rights and subverting democratic processes.

Supriya Sule praised Revanth Reddy as “one of Telangana’s most committed leaders,” recalling his early days in Parliament and his pledge to raise the Congress flag in Telangana. “From a grassroots worker to Chief Minister, his rise reflects people’s faith,” she said.

She also drew parallels between Reddy’s struggle and the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who implemented the landmark 69% reservation in that state. “Just as history honours Ambedkar and Karunanidhi, it will also remember Revanth Reddy’s role in the BC rights movement,” Sule said.

Supriya Sule assured the gathering that every NCP worker and leader stood firmly with Congress in the fight to implement the 42% BC reservation. She concluded by thanking the Telangana Congress for the invitation and warm reception.
