Hyderabad: Telangana Housing Minister P Srinivas Reddy on Monday claimed the Indiramma government had achieved in 18 months what the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi regime failed to deliver over a decade. Addressing a housing document distribution event in Nagarkurnool district, he said opposition parties were raising unnecessary noise about the “six guarantees” even as the government moved to fulfil its pledges one by one.
He announced that ration cards would be issued to all eligible beneficiaries starting 14 July. Reddy criticised the earlier BRS government for limiting ration card distribution to poll-bound areas while ignoring other regions. He said the current administration was not only issuing ration cards but also supplying fine rice, attributing these efforts to the blessings of voters who had supported the Indiramma government.
Appealing for continued public support, he urged voters to remember the government’s programmes when heading to the polls. Reddy alleged that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and the BRS had compromised Telangana farmers’ rights by making deals with neighbouring states for personal benefit. He claimed the Kaleshwaram project was favoured over the Pranahita project for commission interests, which had in turn affected progress on the Banakacherla project.
The Minister pledged that the Indiramma government would protect every drop of the state’s water and uphold Telangana’s rights. He maintained that honesty remained the core principle of the current administration, promising to honour commitments to the poor at any cost.
Reddy said Indiramma housing would be extended to all genuinely poor beneficiaries regardless of caste, religion, or political leanings. He noted that houses had been allotted in the first phase, with three additional phases planned. Those left out of the initial distribution should not lose hope, he assured, as they would be included in future phases.
