Southwest Airlines to launch Hyderabad GCC on May 20

Hyderabad: Southwest Airlines will establish its Southwest Airlines GCC in Hyderabad, further strengthening the city’s position as a major global capability centre hub.

The airline’s leadership team met IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Monday. During the meeting, the team invited him to attend the inauguration of the Hyderabad GCC on May 20.

The delegation included Lauren Woods, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Krishna Kallepalli, Vice President and Global Head of Innovation India, and Tom Merritt, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.

Officials said the new centre would strengthen Hyderabad’s reputation as a preferred destination for global capability centres.

Southwest Airlines GCC expected to boost innovation

During the meeting, Sridhar Babu said the Telangana government remained committed to transforming GCCs into Global Value Centers through innovation and investment.

He added that the government focused on attracting global companies and creating quality employment opportunities for Telangana youth.

The minister also said Hyderabad continued to emerge as a leading destination for multinational firms setting up technology and innovation centres in India.

Moreover, officials said the Southwest Airlines GCC would expand the city’s global business and technology ecosystem.
