Hyderabad: A 44-year-old man died after his son-in-law allegedly hit him twice on the head with a hammer in Jawaharnagar. Police launched an investigation after the incident on August 23.
The deceased was identified as Mogili, a resident of Dondathota Saibaba Colony in Jawaharnagar, Kapra mandal. He lived with his wife Andalu, and the couple had three married daughters.
Mogili and Andalu attended the Bonalu festival at their eldest daughter’s house in Dondathota on August 23. Later that evening, Mogili went outside and returned home with injuries on his face.
A dispute subsequently broke out between Mogili and his son-in-law Shiva. During the argument, Mogili allegedly damaged windows, removed electrical wiring and damaged Shiva’s motorcycle.
Jawaharnagar hammer attack follows family dispute
Police said Shiva became enraged during the dispute and allegedly struck Mogili twice on the head with a hammer. Mogili collapsed and lost consciousness at the spot.
Emergency personnel from 108 reached the location after receiving information about the incident. They examined Mogili and declared him dead at the scene.
Shiva allegedly fled from the location after the attack. Police are investigating the incident based on a complaint filed by Mogili’s wife, Andalu.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the fatal assault. Further details are awaited.
