Hyderabad: A short circuit in the emergency ward triggered a smoke scare at Shamshabad LIMS Hospital late on June 2, prompting hospital staff to shift patients to safety.
Soon after an air-conditioning unit reportedly developed a fault, dense smoke spread through parts of the hospital. As a result, panic gripped patients, attendants and hospital employees.
Meanwhile, staff members acted quickly and broke the glass panels of air-conditioned rooms to improve ventilation. Consequently, the smoke began clearing from the affected areas.
Shamshabad LIMS Hospital shifts patients to safety
As a precaution, hospital authorities shifted patients to another branch of LIMS Hospital at Thondapally.
After receiving information about the incident, fire personnel from two fire stations rushed to the hospital. However, by the time they arrived, no active flames were visible.
Thereafter, firefighters focused on ventilating the affected rooms and securing the premises. Their efforts helped restore normal conditions inside the hospital.
Despite the tense situation, authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties occurred. Consequently, doctors, patients and their relatives expressed relief.
Later, Shamshabad ACP Srikant Goud visited the hospital and reviewed the situation. He said all patients and staff members were safe and urged the public not to panic.
Meanwhile, officials began examining the circumstances that led to the short circuit. They are also assessing any damage caused by the incident.
