Shivakumar hails Telangana Vision Document 2047 as model for South India

Hyderabad: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday hailed the Telangana Vision Document 2047, describing it as a roadmap not just for Telangana but for the entire South Indian region. He made the remarks during the inaugural session of the Telangana Rising Global Summit at Bharat Future City in Rangareddy district.

He praised the Congress government for presenting such a forward-looking vision, stating that Telangana’s approach reflects the needs of the next generation and the global economy. “This is the biggest vision I have seen for the future,” he said.

Telangana and Karnataka united in tech and growth

Shivakumar rejected the idea of rivalry between Hyderabad and Bengaluru, saying the cities are not competitors but partners. “We support each other and compete with the world,” he remarked, adding that both states play key roles in health care, technology, and education.

He noted that South India contributes 30 to 35 percent of India’s GDP, with Telangana and Karnataka as significant drivers. He described the summit as a source of pride for South India and the entire nation.

Highlighting Karnataka’s strength in IT, Shivakumar said Bengaluru accounts for 40% of India’s IT exports. Despite its size, he noted, Telangana holds a substantial share of India’s tech output. “About 1.3 million Indian engineers are working in cities like California,” he added.

The Karnataka Deputy CM expressed full support for regional cooperation. “Karnataka will work with Telangana for the development of South India,” he said, calling for unity in purpose and vision.

He concluded by stating that the Telangana government has clearly understood what the country, the world, and future generations need.
