Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy on Thursday retired from service, marking the Shivadhar Reddy retirement after 32 years in the police force.
He received a ceremonial farewell at the Hyderabad Police Academy parade grounds. Reflecting on his career, he said the service gave him “a wealth of experiences and memories.”
Reddy highlighted the shift from traditional policing to modern approaches. He said initiatives like “Friendly Policing” helped build public trust during his tenure.

Shivadhar Reddy thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for the opportunity to serve as DGP. He urged young officers to uphold the department’s reputation.
He also congratulated C.V. Anand, who took charge as the new DGP. Therefore, the transition marked a new phase for the state police leadership.
Shivadhar Reddy retirement draws praise from successor
New DGP C.V. Anand praised Shivadhar Reddy’s distinguished service. He noted the outgoing officer’s role in tackling Naxalism and leading key operations.
Shivadhar Reddy referred to ‘Operation Kagar’ and said Reddy contributed to major seizures of Maoist weapons. He also highlighted efforts to facilitate surrenders.
Anand said Reddy upheld the principle that protecting Telangana’s honour remains the police force’s primary responsibility. Moreover, he said he would continue working with officers and consider their suggestions.
