SFI protests at Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s house in Karimnagar over fee reimbursement dues

Hyderabad: The issue of pending fee reimbursement funds in Telangana intensified further on Tuesday. Private college managements continued their indefinite strike for the second day, while tensions rose in Karimnagar as student groups joined the agitation.

Members of the Student Federation of India (SFI) and other student unions tried to lay siege to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s residence in Karimnagar. They demanded immediate payment of fee reimbursement arrears and deposit of scholarships into students’ accounts.

Police stopped the protesters near the minister’s house, leading to a scuffle between both sides. Officers later detained several SFI activists and shifted them to the local police station.

SFI leaders said thousands of students were facing severe hardship because the government had not cleared pending dues. Many graduates still could not collect their certificates as colleges withheld them due to non-payment.

They also alleged that the government was threatening college managements with vigilance raids instead of releasing funds. The SFI demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy act immediately and release all pending fee reimbursement and scholarship amounts.
